Suite #6, The Factory

Suite Description

The Factory, no, not the real chocolate factory, but the décor gets it’s Hershey inspiration from the old Hershey Factory

There is a full kitchen, living room with a pull out sofa bed and bathroom on the first floor. A spiral staircase leads up to the lofted second level where a queen sized bed, in-suite workspace and a walk in closet can be found.

The separation of space really makes this 500 square foot Suite feel spacious.

Area History

More than a century ago, after seeing and purchasing chocolate making machines at the 1893 World’s Columbian Expo in Chicago, that Milton Hershey decided to sell his lucrative caramel business. Calling caramels a fad but chocolate a permanent thing, Milton Hershey began looking for the ideal location for his new chocolate factory. He turned to his birthplace of Derry Church, Pennsylvania (now known as Hershey) because of its clean water, pastoral beauty and access to farm fresh milk.

He believed workers who were treated fairly and who lived in comfortable environments would be better workers. Knowing that this was already a hard working Mennonite community he decided to build his factory and the town around it for his employees – providing not only jobs, but a place to live and thrive.
