Area History
In 1906, Milton S. Hershey, founder of the Hershey Chocolate Company, formally opened the park now known as Hershey Park. The festivities on that opening day included a baseball game, music was performed by the Hershey Band and other events were held on park grounds.
The park opened its first roller coaster in 1923, the The Wild Cat, an early Philadelphia Toboggan Company coaster, and ever since has been adding rides and attractions. As of 2016, the park’s area covers over 110 acres, containing 70 rides and attractions, as well as Zoo America, and Hershey’s Chocolate World.
